Manchester United fought back from two goals down to beat Roma 3–2 at Old Trafford, ending a nine-match winless run and giving Michael Carrick’s side a much-needed lift.
First-half goals from Matías Soulé and Donyell Malen left United facing another disappointing night. But Bruno Fernandes pulled one back with a retaken penalty before Matheus Cunha struck twice late on to complete a dramatic turnaround.
It was United’s first victory since beating Sabah 4–0 on 10 September - a wait of 54 days.
The result takes United to six points in the Champions League league phase, reviving their hopes of progressing.
It's also a win which gives Carrick some much-needed breathing space after weeks of intense scrutiny, although it may still not be enough to save his job.
